I am kindly asking your help to assist me to know the identity of my grandfather and the correct story of my village.

Dear Sir My name is Basem Mulla Mahmood , I am Turkmen from a small village in Syria, Latakia called "Molla Mahmutlu" It is know that this village was a gift from the Turkish or Ottoman army to one of my grandfathers since he was an important officer in the Turkish army. Some people say that he was successful in war against France so if this story is correct the village was given to him in the early of 20th century. I am kindly asking your help to assist me to know the identity of my grandfather and the correct story of my village.
